1 down, 9 to go

img_0031.jpgWe had our first soccer game yesterday. It was an away game. This is the first year we’ve had to travel more than 5 miles for a game. My daughter has moved up to SAY’s Strikers league. That’s for 5th and 6th graders. When we got there and I saw how much bigger some of their girls were I thought we’d get creamed. But we practiced how to deal with bigger, aggressive players. I felt we just might hold our own. What was neat to see was everything we did in practice was put into use during the game! They passed. They played their positions. They stayed spread out. They talked to each other and they worked as a team, a complete team. Even the girls who had never played before worked well with the rest of the team. They knew where to be and what to do when they got there. If you can’t tell, I’m proud of them. They clicked and it was beautiful to watch. At this point the score didn’t matter. What mattered was how well they worked together. BTW: They won, 5 – 0. 😀
